Asynchronous Transfer Mode
ATM, the Asynchronous Transfer Mode, is a powerful transmission system. ATM is able to transmit any type of information with high speed, and it does not dependent on any specific physical media, these features make it a widely used network nowadays.

Asynchronous Transfer Mode hardware requires the switches that route 53 byte cells through a network. The layer structure of ATM include physical layer, ATM and adaptation layer. Transmission can be effect via any existing network such as SONET or LANs. ATM transmission speed varies widely, this allows it to work with any application and leaves from for improved technology advances.
