C Band
C band refers to the 1530nm to 1560nm range. C band is one of the gain bandwidth that the EDFA works at. Theoretically the EDFA can work at around 1500nm to 1600nm range. But practical gain window is much restricted amplified wavelength range – the so-called gain bandwidth. Here the C of the term C band refers to conventional and C band is also called the red band. Most EDFA works at the C band wavelength range.
