GBIC is short form of Gigabit Interface Converter, it is a hot swappable input/output devices that could be plugged into the well acknowledged GBIC slot or port and link them to the network. The GBIC transceivers are suitable for interconnections in the Gigabit Ethernet hubs and switches environment. GBIC is also practical for other high performance, point-to-point communication requiring gigabit or fiber channel interconnections.
Cisco GBIC mainly have below types: WS G5483, which is 1000Base-T copper Cisco GBIC, this transceiver connect the GBIC port via RJ45 interface. WS G5484 is 1000Base-SX multimode Cisco GBIC transceiver, its max-working span is 550 meters. WS G5486 is 1000Base-LX/LH Cisco GBIC max working span 10km, WS G5487 is 1000Base-ZX single mode Cisco GBIC max working span 100km. There is also CWDM Cisco GBIC, with different working wavelength 1470,1490,1510,1530,1550,1570,1590,1610. Our GBIC products are not original Cisco transceivers but equivalent to Cisco GBIC, they function same as Cisco GBIC but prices are much more competitive.
