Duplex fiber optic products is with a structure that the combination of two single components. For example, duplex LC fiber optic connector is actually two single LC fiber optic connectors put tightly together side by side. To make it duplex structure, the two single components either are made sharing the same body, or they are combined together by some other components, for example, the fiber optic connector clips.

Duplex fiber optic products are various connection types including LC, ST, SC, FC, MTRJ, E2000, MU, etc. these connectors types can be single mode or multimode, connector can be UPC or APC polished. Single mode and multimode is quite different from simplex and the duplex we are talking here. The mode is related to optical fiber operation mode; duplex is the structure of the whole components.
