Fiber Optic LANs
The term LAN refer to the local area network. Computer technology development is too fast, both the hardware and software, all these has result in the personal computer today more and more powerful, which means more information is generated and more information need to be communicated. Emails, instant messages, images, music and videos, today’s computer need to exchange a lot information.

According to so called Amdahl’s law, the LAN capacity should be at least 1Mbit/s per 1 Mips, but today this capacity is not enough, We need about 100Mbit/s. today’s LAN working speed can not reach at this mostly because of its copper-wired infrastructure. Fiber optic in LANs is the solution for higher speed LAN for the continues increasing demand for bandwidth and speed. The cost of fiber optic in LANs is still high ,but it is decreasing steadily.
