GBIC WS represent Cisco GBIC fiber optic transceiver modules; GBIC WS series include GBIC WS-G5483, GBIC WS-G5484, GBIC WS G5486, and GBIC WS-G5487.

GBIC WS G5483 is 1000Base-T copper GBIC which use category 5 cables for linking and its max span is 100 meters. GBIC WS G5484 is multimode 1000Base-SX transceiver which use MMF cable and its max span is 550 meters using 50/125 MMF.GBIC WS G5486 is 1000Base-LX/LH fiber transceiver module which fit to use either multimode or single mode cables for linking, its max span is 10km over SMF. GBIC WS G5487 is 1000Base-ZX single mode transceiver; its max span is 70km over 1550nm SMF.
